Janet Berardi of the Columbus seminar, said, “Bev made sure we as a class and individuals grasped all materials and could relate them to our own programs.”

Jacqueline O’Connor, who attended the Columbus workshop, said of her experience, “Beverly loves what she does. Her enthusiasm was obvious and now feel I have the confidence and skills to go out and begin writing for my school. The material covered was quite comprehensive, but most importantly provided a direct connection for me.”

Beverly Santicola, President of USGG, will personally conduct all Grant Writing Classes in Ohio as described in the paragraphs below.

Day One—For newcomers to professional grant writing or those seeking to boost their success rate, introductory grant writing classes in Ohio are designed to establish the grant writer in the fundamentals of grant writing. Step-by-step, students are coached in developing winning grant proposals, as well as the strategy for having 90% of the proposal completed before they begin. Day One’s agenda for grant writing seminars in Ohio includes 1) 11 key components of a grant proposal, 2) developing a good problem statement, 3) setting measurable goals and objectives, 4) five critical components of a program plan, 5) making your case for support, 6) 28 items you can have prepared in advance, 7) elements of an effective fundraising plan, 8) grant research methods and tools, 9) letters of support or collaboration, and 10) nonprofit fundamentals. Individual and group work provide opportunities for students to address their own issues in our grant writing courses. Each student at our grant writing classes in Ohio will leave with a customized prospect list of 10-100 foundations.

Day Two—The second day of USGG grant writing classes in Ohio features actual grant writing and peer review, with participants sharing previous experience in grant writing and bringing proposals in to be reviewed. USGG Grant Writing Workshops, Day Two includes 1) collaboration and partnerships, 2) budget forms, 3) budget narratives, 4) managing the grant, 5) evaluation methodology, 6) federal and state proposals, 7) criteria and rating factors, 8) large foundation proposals, 9) turning a denial into an award, and 10) grant writing as a career. In this session, the trainer shares stories of unique, creative proposals that generated over $3 million for K-12 education. With one project that taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to build computers in under 30 minutes, and an after-school program involving students in a downtown revitalization, these stories demonstrate the power and efficacy of “thinking outside the box” to develop one-of-a-kind projects for whatever target population is served.
