USGG grant writing classes have been described as “awesome, entertaining, educational, fantastic, powerful, and practical.” Beginning grant writers, as well as seasoned professionals, claim these grant writing classes are the best they have ever attended.
U.S.G.G. grant writing classes are unique, unlike any other in the county. They provide a hands-on approach to grant writing, whether it is a complicated federal grant proposal or a simple two-page private foundation grant application. A step-by-step process is provided to make the task seem easy.
Day One - For those new to the field of professional grant writing, or those wanting to improve their success rate, introductory grant writing classes in Rhode Island will be designed to provide a solid foundation in the fundamentals of grant writing. Students will learn step-by-step how to develop winning grant proposals, as well as how to have 90% of the proposal done before they begin. The agenda for Day One of our grant writing classes in Rhode Island will include 1) eleven key components of a grant proposal, 2) how to develop a good problem statement, 3) setting measurable goals and objectives, 4) five important components of a program plan, 5) how to make your case for support, 6) twenty-eight items you can have prepared in advance, 7) elements of an effective fundraising plan, 8) grant research methods and tools, 9) letters of support or collaboration, and 10) non profit fundamentals. Students will have an opportunity to work individually and in groups on their own issues in our grant writing classes. Each student that attends our grant writing classes in Rhode Island will leave with a custom designed prospect list of 10-100 foundations.
Day Two - U.S.G.G. Grant Writing Classes in Rhode Island will include 1) collaboration and partnerships, 2) budget forms, 3) budget narratives, 4) managing the grant, 5) evaluation methodology, 6) federal and state proposals, 7) criteria and rating factors, 8) large foundation proposals, 9) how to turn a denial into an award, and 10) grant writing as a career. The second day of U.S.G.G. Grant writing classes in Rhode Island will feature actual grant writing and peer review. Participants will share previous experience in grant writing and bring proposals in to be reviewed. In this session the trainer shares stories of unique and creative proposals that generated over $3 million for K-12 education. With one project that taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to build computers in less than 30 minutes and one after school program that involved students in revitalizing downtown, these stories will help participants learn how to start thinking "outside the box" and develop one-of-a-kind projects for whatever target population they serve.
USGG began posting testimonials from each grant writing class to its Blog beginning in May 2006 immediately following each grant writing class. To see testimonials for grant writing classes in Rhode Island watch for updates at U.S. Government Grants Blog.
