Faruqi & Associates is a fundraising consulting firm
specializing in proposal writing, communications, public
relations and board development for nonprofit organizations
locally, regionally and internationally.
Saadia Faruqi has more than 8 years of fundraising experience in
the nonprofit sector through freelance consulting, volunteering
and full-time employment. She has raised money for organizations
in a wide variety of fields, including children’s health,
domestic violence, science education, youth mentoring, adult and
family literacy, and the arts. She also has experience in public
relations, communications, marketing and finance.
Prior to founding Faruqi & Associates, Saadia worked as Grants
Administrator at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston.
Impressed with her fundraising abilities, Big Brothers Big
Sisters signed on as her first client when she decided to open
shop as a consultant. Before this she served as Development
Director at Literacy Advance of Houston.
Saadia has received the prestigious President’s Student Service
Award, granted by George W. Bush for volunteerism and student
leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from the University of Central Florida, where she
also received the Knight In Shining Armor Award and the Student
Government Service Award & Scholarship for her community
service. She has also completed a Bachelor of Business
Administration from the University of Karachi, in her native
country of Pakistan.
Saadia is also the founder and Chair of the Grant Writers’
Network of Greater Houston, an organization dedicated to
providing professional development, training and networking
opportunities for grant writers in the Houston area
Saadia's research projects include a research study on the
relationships between funders and grantee organizations, and how
this impacts the grants awarded. Her study was published in the
Journal of the American Association of Grant Professionals,
Fall/Winter 2004 Issue, Volume 3 Number 2, pp 37-46, entitled
“Grantor-Grantee Relationships – A Research Study”. |
